I Love Photography.
I had a studio for over 20 years. I retired from the profession and got a “regular” job. But I wasn’t feeling satisfied. I missed being with “my” people; the many families and children I was used to seeing on a frequent basis.
Covid 19 then hit and I was looking for a way to give back to my community. I saw a few of my photographer friends around the country doing something called Porch Portraits. So I decided to join the party and started offering them in my neighborhood and beyond.
I got to see old friends and meet a lot of new ones – all from a safe distance and No Hugs Allowed (if you know me, you know that was hard!). I was bringing smiles to others and it made me Happy! Anytime you can make another person smile, it’s contagious and affects you as well.
Then much to my surprise, I started getting text messages that the Governor of my State just mentioned me, by name, about my Porch Portrait project. How cool is that?
The moral of the story – Doing something you love will not only make you happy, but can make others happier as well. And sometimes, you get a shout out on national social media.
Here are a few of my favorite Porch Portraits to date. Stay tuned, we have a coffee table book in the works.
Namaste, y’all!
